Designed by Open Champion Sandy Herd, it was later modified by fellow Scottish champion golfer and celebrated course architect, James Braid. Rolling tree-lined fairways and well-kept, slick running greens cared for in the most delightful surroundings are the memories you will take away with you.
While the course has played host to some top professionals and aspiring amateurs it provides a fair and enjoyable test to golfers of all abilities. At 6,334 yards off the white tees it is not particularly long, though with a par of 70, it is certainly no push-over. It measures 5,918 yards from the yellow tee boxes and 5,573 yards from the reds.
We’ve been hard at work enhancing the course through significant investment to elevate your playing experience. Spearheaded by renowned golf course architect Jonathan Gaunt, our latest endeavour includes refurbishing existing bunkers, strategically placing new ones, and creating fresh run-off areas—all featuring state-of-the-art rubber crumb and bunker liner technology. All new bunkers are filled with China Clay sand, renowned for its moisture retention properties and distinctive grey, mottled appearance. Phase 3 of our upgrades, completed in early 2024 marks a significant milestone, with 14 holes now showcasing the pinnacle of modern golf course design.
